Tetraconch

Tetraconch
A building, including a church, with four conches, i.e., four semicircular niches with half-domes (a triconch [q.v.], thus, has three niches). Among the early tetraconch churches is the one at Abu Mina (q.v.). The design persisted as a church type into the Palaiologan (q.v.) period.
